What is the Advanced Clean Cars 2 Rule­mak­ing? Col­orado is still not on track to achieve the reduc­tions in green­house gas pol­lu­tion required under HB19-1261. Vehi­cles are the largest share of GHG emis­sions in our state. Tox­ic vehi­cle pol­lu­tion is linked to high­er rates of can­cer, heart dis­ease, res­pi­ra­to­ry dis­or­ders and pre­ma­ture death. This pol­lu­tion dis­pro­por­tion­ate­ly harms low-income com­mu­ni­ties and Lat­inx, Black, Indige­nous, and peo­ple of col­or. The Advanced Clean Cars 2 (ACC2) rule is a set of reg­u­la­tions that will reduce pol­lu­tion and GHG emis­sions from light-duty vehi­cles. It is a require­ment on car man­u­fac­tur­ers to ramp up sales of new zero-emis­­sion and plug-in hybrid cars over time, reach­ing 100% of new vehi­cle sales by 2035.
