Report: Electric Vehicles on the Road in Colorado from December 1, 2020
Drive Electric Colorado presents a monthly EVs in Colorado report. Using data from the Colorado Energy Office's EV Dashboard and the Alternative Fueling Station Locator from the Department of Energy, Drive Electric Colorado provides the most current and accurate sales data for EVs and charging data by county, make/model, and electric vehicle type.
As of December 1, 2020, there were 31,771 EVs on the road in Colorado, up from 30,917 EVs since November 1.
Key points from the most current data since December 1, 2020:
- Electric car sales were up 2.68% (+854 EVs) from November 1 and up 18.7% (+5,958 EVs) from January 1, 2020.

There are currently 949 public charging stations with 2,766 charging outlets available in Colorado. Within this total, 866 of these stations and 2,375 charging outlets are Level 2 chargers, and 117 of these stations and 391 charging outlets are Level 3/DC fast chargers. In addition, 54 of the total stations are owned by local/municipal governments, 226 stations are privately owned, 12 stations are owned by the state, and 7 stations are owned by a utility.* Due to insufficient data, we do not know whom the remaining charging stations are owned by.
