What a week it has been! Our team here at Drive Electric Colorado celebrated National Drive Electric week (NDEW) from September 23 through October 2 with some awesome local events, and we were all so excited to be a part of something bigger with similar events across the country!
NDEW was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the many benefits of driving electric and hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, and bikes.
We started off the week on 9/24 with an EV showcase and Ride and Drive at the Energy Day STEM event at East High School in Denver, CO. There were over 500 people at this event, and we got to chat with around 130 of them! We gave ride and drives to over twenty people in a Kia EV6 and a Volkswagen ID.4 from our Featured Dealers. We even had a crew of high school students from the event come by and try one out!
An EV showcase at the Nederland Farmers market took place on 9/25 in Nederland, CO, where our awesome volunteer coaches assisted with another EV showcase, engaging in conversation, and enjoying the festivities and good food of the market.
On Saturday 10/1, we joined the Cool Science Festival at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs CO, for festivities and an EV showcase. Our coaches got to talk with many families, and engage kids on conversations around EVs, how they work, and why they are important. One of our awesome coaches had a sample battery to show the kids what his Tesla ran on! We also had some trick-or-treating out of the "frunk." Getting to see this younger generation engage with electric vehicles, and how excited they were to learn about them was so exciting for us too! We engaged with around 200 people throughout the day.
On Sunday 10/2, we hosted EcoTober at Centaurus High School in Lafayette, CO, which featured over 50 exhibitors, a performance by local musicians Jeff and Paige, hands-on workshops, and countless other interactive activities for the whole family. Along with a Ford F150 Lightning, Kia EV6, VW ID.4, Tesla Model X and a Mustang Mach‑E, there was 1 of only 3 Rivian SUVs on the road! We are so grateful to our incredible volunteers and the dealerships and partners who made all of this possible. We had over 250 people stop by our showcase, and loved engaging with parents, kids, and everyone in between about why switching to an EV is beneficial. This audience was very perceptive to EVs and had a lot of interest in the cars, charging, and in e‑bikes as well.
Thanks for coming along for the ride this National Drive Electric week! Check out our other upcoming events on our website here and pass us along as a resource for all things EV to your friends and family. We are excited for all that is to come and hope that you'll be there with us!
